The latest update from Lisa: Jennings has been discharged from the hospital and is now back home. His doctors feel that having Home Health with Physical Therapy will be of help to him at this time as walking continues to be difficult due to his overall body weakness . His kidneys remain in renal failure . He will continue with a permanent treatment plan of dialysis three days a week . This last hospital stay was both physically and emotionally exhausting , both in ways that w...ere simply unexplainable . I pray he can stay out of the hospital but especially during this time of pandemic. The latest news from Lisa, keep praying y'all! TUESDAY UPDATE MAY 5 1:30PM After many days and nights of confusion and weakness Jennings has started to think more clearly . He was able to call me all on his own this morning with no help at all in any way. How surprised I was to hear his voice ! He told me that with a little help he walked this morning in the hallway and that he was going to keep walking more and more , little by little until he gets strong enough that h...is doctor will say he can come home ! God has not left Jennings through out this journey even though it has felt dark and uncertain at points . I can see God never left and He continues to care for Jennings . His grace and mercies are evident this morning and we can not thank God enough . We ask for your continued prayers and good thoughts during the days to come . FRIDAY UPDATE MAY 1 8:30PM Jennings is out of ICU and has been moved to a room on the floor. His doctor is very concerned how extremely weak he has become during this time of immobility on the ventilator and its severity on his health movin...g forward with treatment . He tires very easily and sleeps on and off much of the time which his body needs to heal and rest. For this reason we are asking that you not call his hospital room or cell phone please. While he will be trying to regain strength , it is really hard for him to carry on a conversation right now. The pneumonia has cleared and for that we are so thankful. However, his kidneys remain in renal failure . Dr Rifkin has now begun the process of taking him off his medications as they will no longer be needed and have not been able to sustain or bring his kidneys to functioning as his doctor anticipated. Ongoing Dialysis will be a permanent part of Jennings life every week , three days a week , from now on. With his diagnosis of Good Pastures Disease , he will have a brand new way of living , as this is an autoimmune disease , some of its symptoms are weakness and fatigue, no immune system , lung issues and kidney issues are a few and will be debilitating . We continue to pray and ask God to deliver and heal and we will never stop believing that our God is able to meet us right where we are . Each and every one of you mean so very much to Jennings and to me , to all of our blended families.
