Overnight fire crews battled a structure fire on South Main. No one was living in the house at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

We'd like to take just a minute to brag. Introducing our newest certified Firefighters. Left to Right are Firefighters Dane Griffin, Allen Sanders and Justin Abbott. These guys and their classmates from Magee Fire Rescue and Mt. Olive Fire Department gave up many long hours away from family to earn their certifications. We would like to congratulate them on work and dedication, and wish them well as they continue down their training pipeline.

We know we are a little late , but we couldn't let this week slip by without saying thank you to a very vital part of our team. They don't get a lot of recognition for the job they handle, but these amazing people are our very first and last lines of defense. They are the unseen professionals who make everything happen. You guys(and gals) are simply the best. Mendenhall Police Department and the Simpson County Sheriff's Office ... Thank you!

Mendenhall Fire is hosting the Mississippi State Fire Academy Volunteer Fire fighter Level I. 15 firefighters from three departments are starting their journey to certification. They will go through the academic and skills process for the next few months right here in Mendenhall. It's a lot of training in a little time. You might even see them out and about in town practicing those newly earned skills. If you happen to see a stray trainee running loose, please don't feed th...em or try to capture them.
