Muay Thai In The Park 07.07.2021

You will not believe this woman's superhuman abilities until you watch this video! Punnee, a native Bangkok resident, is 62 years young and is in the best possi...ble shape that a human of her age could be in. She trains Muay Thai everyday -- a Thai combat sport that is similar to kickboxing (but more intense). I've had the (embarrassing) opportunity to train Muay Thai at the same gym as her for the last 2 weeks, and she (really) makes me feel weak -- but her story is so inspiring that I had to make this video. The next time you are feeling lazy to hit the gym, let Punnee's story motivation you it's NEVER TOO LATE and you're NEVER TOO OLD to get in shape. She plans to continue working out and training Muay Thai until she's 100. Wow. Follow Drew Binsky for daily travel videos and inspiration, and I'm also active on Instagram @drewbinsky :) See you tomorrow from BHUTAN!! Music: Epidemic Sound

This is a beautiful short film about a young boy becoming a Nakmuay. He's bullied, so his mother takes him to a Kaimuay (gym) where Samart (Samart Payakaroon G...ym) plays the trainer. It follows his training, using some old style techniques like a lime on a string for head movement and splashing water to keep your eyes open. In the end, the boy has grown up and becomes a trainer at that shame gym, taking on his own students - the message of the film is to pass on this gift of Muay Thai. The young boy, grown up and taking on his own student is played by Sangtiennoi Sor Rungroj See more

What is Muay Thai or Thai Boxing? Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is the national sport and cultural martial art of Thailand. It was developed several hundreds of years ago as a form of close-combat that utilizes the entire body as a weapon. Today its definitive origins are debated by modern scholars, as much of the muay thai history was lost when the Burmese ransacked Ayudhaya, Siam’s capital city in Thailand, during the 14th century.... Most written muay thai history was lost when the Burmese looted the temples and depositories of knowledge held in Ayudhaya, and what volumes were saved are now national treasures that are preserved and protected as documentation for Thai culture and heritage.
