Attention all karate kids! Great news! We will be resuming our regular classes Monday September 21st. We will be doing things a little bit different moving forward. Every student will get the opportunity to train with not only myself, but all of my assistant instructors. We will offer classes from 6 years of age and up in kickboxing and Jujitsu. It is recommended that all students bring boxing gloves, hand wraps, headgear, mouth pieces, water bottle and soft shin guards. All... students will be required to wear a judo/jujitsu Gi/Uniform during the jujitsu classes. Due to Covid we will divide the class into three groups and rotate them from class to class. Understand that it is expected that all parents and students abide by the following rules. Nobody who is sick or running fever is to come into this class. If you are sick, I expect you to show responsibility and stay at home and to notified me about it. I expect every student to come with high intensity and a desire to learn and train. These classes will be highly intense and you will be pushed. All students we be expected to spar and grapple so if you don’t think you are up to it or if you are a parent and you have a problem with the above requirements for your student, then reconsideration might be warranted. My objective is to turn out the best quality students and to maintain the Namido standard. Until then, God bless and be safe. See ya then! Shihan Mike See more

A year ago today was a very difficult day for me... I lost a student, best friend, instructor, and brother... No student I have ever had was as loyal to me and ...to the Namido Jujitsu Yudanshakai as this man right here. He served on my board as the Vice President of Namido and also the Japanese representative... I remember him asking me how he could assist me in this ministry that he loved so much. I had many classes going on throughout the week and it all fell on my shoulders to provide the knowledge. After he showed his eagerness to teach, I plugged him in as the Kodokan Judo teacher for the Namido Hombu... He worked along closely with me in carrying out my vision for the class, students and the organization. He was very meticulous in his work and he quickly became a Hugh asset to me and to the students of Namido... He was one of the most Godly men I have ever had the pleasure to know and to be associated with... He would come to my office for 3-4 hours every Friday for a couple of years and diligently attempt to teach me the Japanese language. We would spend half of that time in deep conversations with each other... those were some of the most treasured moments I will always remember and I truly miss those times. When he received the news of his terminal cancer, I was in the doctors office with him and I never once heard him say why me... He was from the Samurai bloodline and he was definitely a true warrior until the last breath. Rest In Peace Shihan Yamada Masanobu, I love you my brother! Until we meet again. See more

Hey students and Parents... This guy in the video is Coach Reeves in Columbus ms with Relentless BJJ and MMA. He is a great coach and these are wise words. I teach my students all the time that you have to want this more than I want it for you... the choice is yours! I spend my time pumping knowledge into you just like putting air in a tire but it’s up to you to keep the air full... to maintain the knowledge... if you don’t go home and practice and reach your goal to be good...... then I as an instructor can’t help you... Parents stop allowing your kids to train when they or if they want to... you are the parent. You should be teaching your kids responsibility and the no quit mentality because this is what will make them winners or losers in life... they will never forget if you force a don’t quit structure... The word says... train your kids up in the way... and they will never depart it. Listen to this Coach’s perspective! See more

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, Lay hold of eternal life. Whereunto thou are also called, and has professed a good profession, before many witness...es. This scripture popped into my mind this morning as I’ve had time to think on the great miracle God has performed in my sister’s life. Rissa Tagert has fought the good fight, she has laid hold of her eternal life, and she has relentlessly professed her good profession before everyone! A couple of points come to mind about this. Fight the good fight of faith. If you notice, anytime the word faith is used, it involves an action. Faith without works is dead. It requires action. Fighting is definitely action and it is painful!!! Fighting is chaotic! If a person hasn’t been trained in the ways of battle, to automatically respond without thought, then they will crumble away during a real confrontation. Fighting requires 100 percent heart and attitude of the mind to endure! You have to have the mindset that you might die, but you will never give up and you must not quit! What makes most fighters quit, is the pain that comes with fighting and when pain comes, an individual will always revert back to their mindset and if they haven’t developed endurance in the face of pain, and if they haven’t developed poise, calm, and confidence in chaos, then the mind and the spirit is the first thing to give up and we all know the body follows the head. If the head quits, the body quits! I had a great instructor told me that his great instructor instilled in him, how to find the calm in the chaos. If we can learn to find the calm in our chaos, we can endure the fight. So how does one learn how to find the calm I’m talking about, when In a fight? When faced with adversity? This kind of Calm, can only be obtained and learned, through many battles. As an instructor, I can teach you how to fight! But I can’t give you courage to fight! I can teach you how, when, and why, when it comes to fighting! But if you don’t develop the mindset and the spirit, the heart, you will fall apart in the chaos. But with each fight, you gain more experience and your gain more confidence in your ability and you soon have a calm about you that others can’t understand because they haven’t been there. My sister has been fighting this battle with cancer for 9 years and it’s been a very painful fight! But she has endured only because she has grabbed a hold of her Salvation through Christ and has held on with faith. She has taken the blows and she has identified with who she is through Jesus Christ and she understands the authority that has been given to her from the work that Christ finished on the cross. This is her source of strength, that has given her increased confidence to find the calm in her chaos! She has never stopped believing and trusting in God’s goodness and has confessed his greatness before witnesses everywhere. This cancer has put her on main stage among many who’ve had to endure this fight and she witnesses and proclaims the glory of God to everyone with ears to hear, in-spite of pain, setbacks, mental attacks from the enemy. Has she been knocked down? Has she had her spirit shaken? Has she sometimes questioned Gods motives? You bet she has because she is a human. But rest assure, God weighs our hearts and not our doubts or worries. If you are going through a fight today, look up! For He is where your strength and calm comes from. My sister is my human hero. God bless!
