UPDATE: Saturday and Sunday’s performance is sold out. We have a limited number of tickets left for Friday and Saturday’s performance. Call 601-621-0033 to reserve. The Newton Theatre Company is proud to announce auditions for our upcoming youth performance, The Grimm World. Audition dates are set for Monday, January 4th and Tuesday, January 5th at 6 p.m. at the Roxy Theatre in downtown Newton. Ages are for 1st through 12th grade students. Those auditioning will be asked to cold read from the script. There are age-appropriate roles for all ages in this charming tale. Under the direction of Jonathan Thorne, rehearsals will be every T...uesday and Thursday from 6 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. 12 p.m. starting January 12, 2021. Performances will be March 5, 6, & 8. NOTE: Like everyone else, we are adjusting with this pandemic day by day. Please wear masks, sit only with who you came with, and please, do not attend auditions if you have any symptoms so we can keep our community safe. Please call 601-616-6369 if this is the case and we will work with you. As we rehearse, we will also take safety precautions and may have to adjust the schedule as necessary. Synopsis: Enter the familiar world of Once Upon a Time, as a chipper minstrel takes you (and a small, curious boy) on a journey of epic proportions. In a magical forest we find the characters from the Grimms' tales: Hansel & Gretel, Snow White, Cinderella, and The Frog Prince all working their way toward their own happy endings. Along the journey, their tales collide at a breakneck pace, keeping these age-old stories feeling fresh for the 21st century. Devilishly funny and brimming with wit, The Grimm World is family-friendly entertainment that promises to bring out the kid in everyone. We understand if you are hesitant to attend in person, so we will be doing LIVESTREAM on our Facebook page so you may still enjoy local talent. Over our 30 years of NTC, we have had multitudes of people on our stage. Our audiences are always amazed with the amount of talent that exists in our community and the surrounding areas. Nate Vega is one of these and we are excited for him as he releases his first music video. Audrey Pugh is on guitar and Isaac Vega is the videographer (yep, they are ours, too).
